Refurbish Riverside Park Train
Club members are currently refurbishing
an old train located at Riverside Park which
consists of a C&O Kanawha locomotive and
tender and a Virginia type C-1 caboose #64.. Neglect and weather over the years
have caused this stately train to fall into
disrepair. The Kiwanis Club wants to bring
it back to its original glory and build a
protective shed over it so that generations
to come will get the chance to experience
and gaze upon our rich railroad history.

Kids'
Haven
Club members prepare and serve a meal
once a year to around 50 children and their families.
The children and their families meet after
dinner with counselors provided by Kids'
Haven.
Kids'
Haven was founded as a community outreach
project of the Junior League of Lynchburg,
and, in 1998, was chartered as an
independent not-for-profit organization with
the sole mission of serving, through the
provision of support and educational
programming, the unique needs of children
grieving the death of a person who was
significant in their lives. Children come to
Kids' Haven for grief support after the
death-due to old age, illness, homicide,
suicide, accident, or war-of family
members and friends. |
